If you’re the sort of person who marks down major technology launches on their calendar and considers Huawei’s P8 the most underrated smartphone of 2015, then get ready for this – Huawei are ready to announce the P9.

The company recently sent out invites to technology journalists, informing them to ‘save the date’. The invite also features the tagline “change the way you see the world”, whilst promoting the #OO hashtag – two big clues to back up reports of a dual camera array on the rear of the P9.

Leaks from Evan Blass have suggested that the phone will feature a 5.2″ 1080p display, Kirin 950 processor, 3GB of RAM and a dual 12MP camera system on the back. There’s also a strong possibility of Huawei splitting the configurations of the P9, with a P9 Pro, Mini and a P9 Max both potentially appearing at the event. Some reports have indicated that a high end version of the phone would feature a Kirin 955 processor and 4G of RAM. Oh, and remember that mysterious Leica deal? We’ll see their optics in the P9.

Is all of this true? Will anybody ever use the #OO hashtag? We’ll find out on the 6th of April.
